Northern Basques will vote on "territorial collectivity"

The referendum is not backed, and even doubtfully claimed to be "anti-constitutional" by the French Republic but has the support of 90 majors and many other people.

Making it coincident with the upcoming regional elections in March 14 and 21, 91.5% of Northern Basques will finally be able to express their opinion on whether the country should become a territorial collectivity within the French Republic or not.

At the moment and since two centuries ago, when the historical provinces were abolished and replaced by a centralized and arbitrary administrative structure imposed by Paris, Northern Basques have enjoyed no self-rule whatsoever (other than municipalities), what has severely damaged the economy and the culture of the country.

The recent creation of a distinct Chamber of Commerce, out of private initiative, also seeks to revert this awful situation.
