On May 21 I installed, after registering with ClustrMaps, a little piece of code at the bottom of this blog. I was quite curious about how many people could visit Leherensuge and from where. In a few cases (active commenters) I had an idea but I was sure there were other lurkers and "accidental" visitors. The result is this:(will keep changing) At the time of posting this (one month of the little map), Leherensuge had 480 individual visits from all the continents. Not any record surely but at least I know I have some readers, certainly many more than I would know just from the comments. And I'm glad about it.Most of them are from Europe and the USA. The areas that have 10 or more visits (and less than 100) so far are (sorted by continent):Europe:· Bilbao area: it was the first one to reach that size, surely because my many hits (though I know of at least another reader from this city)· Somewhere in the Low Countries. I have not clear if it's Belgium, Netherlands or both.· Somewhere around Liechtenstein (Switzerland, Austria, maybe northern Italy)· London· IstanbulNorth America:· San Francisco area· New York area· Los Angeles area· Seattle area· Kansas city? (surprise)Asia:· Somewhere in Southern India - Hyderabad? I believe I know who's this person.Oceania:· Northern New Zealand. What's that: Auckland? I know who you are - hehe! There is also at least one visit (less than 10 in any case) from South America (Recife area) but that's all. Maybe if I wrote a blog in Spanish (I don't speak Portuguese, sorry). And there have been at least three visitors from Africa too: one from Cape Town, another from Casablanca (or maybe Rabat) and another one from Alexandria. And there are many other small dots (less than 10 visits) scattered all around. Those include also the only hit from Canada, that came not from Toronto, Quebec, Montreal or Vancouver... but from some place in Nunavut, what is most intriguing. Ok, correcting myself: some visitors are placed at the US-Canadian border and I'm not sure if they could be Canadian too. Other intriguing (and probably unique) visitors are from remote places like Inner China, Baku, Hokkaido or Mindanao. I appreciate all my visitors but when they arrive from such distant and intriguing places I cannot but wonder who they might be.
Enjoy.

"What's that: Auckland?" About 150 kms north of there, but close enough (Whangarei).
My counter made pathetic reading. Hence I removed it from my blog.
Yeap, close enough for such kind of map, I guess.
I don't know much about New Zealand but I believe that your region (Northland) is the most densely Maori area of the country, right? I've also read that it's a beautiful area, though guess that can also be said of other parts of your country.

Really? I have little idea on how it works and have nothing to compare with. It's my first attempt at knowing who reads me and, well, I like the idea of it being an easy to watch map.
Guess you are the one from "Hyderabad", though I thought you live farther south, at Kerala - and that doesn't show up.
I meant only handful people read my blog and therefore counter made a sorry reading.
I live in Hyderabad. I think my profile says that.
Ah, ok. I don't think I've ever read your profile, sorry. But now I know. Maybe you have told me that before but I was thinking in terms of Kerala. My apologies.

I'm sorry about that. You should shamelessly publicize your blog around, dropping comments here and there as you feel like - making sure your adress is easily accesible in them. Some of the people who may like your comments may look at your site as well. (Note: I drop comments around there only because I want to, I just make sure that they have a link to Leherensuge or my blogger profile, when such option is available. I'd comment anyhow - it's not for the publicity, I just know it helps).
I think that posting frequently also helps. Though, of course, it's a hobby, not any paid job (not for me certainly), so guess that just writing about what you want when you feel like is ok.
Writing on diverse issues may also attract more variety of readers, including "accidental" google hits on the strangest search string. But can also alienate people who wants something more specific, I guess.
Personally, I'm gladly surprised at having so many visits. Even if I have made like maybe more than 50 of them myself (less than 100 for sure) I still get more than 10 visits per day. Thinking about it, it's much more than I could imagine, specially since I have been blogging only for the last few months.
"your region (Northland) is the most densely Maori area of the country, right?" Pretty much so, although the whole northern half of the North Island has about the same ratio. When I was a child Maori people living a little further out of town than us still used Maori as their first language. I doubt if that's so anywhere today.
Until a year ago we lived in a suburb that was almost totally Maori. We've since moved about 15 kms out of town to a small country block.
By the way, I enjoy your blog. Check it out nearly every day. I'll have to start looking at Manjunat's. I have looked once or twice.
Has Maori language any oficial status in New Zealand? The only way to perpetuate a less important language in these times is that it's official (used by the administration) and widely teached at schools.
I'm glad that you like Leherensuge so much. I'll try to keep it interesting, though guess it may have ups and downs.
Enjoy.
Maju:
I was just joking at myself. Whenever you feel I am cryptic you can assume that I'm having fun at my expense!
Terryt:
You are welcome.
Guess so. It's difficult to understand that on a written medium though.
"Has Maori language any oficial status in New Zealand?" Yes, it's an official language (two official languages) but not too many people speak it fluently. Coincidently it is "Maori Language week" here: people using snippets of the language on mainstream radio and TV etc. I can understand a fair bit but apart from a few words don't speak it at all. Mind you a quite a few words that everyone understands have entered New Zealand english and are used unselfconciously. And many sports teams do a 'haka' (traditional Maori challenge) before a game.
Hey that visitor from Istanbul must be me.I visit this blog almost everyday.
Thanks God today I found something new.
BTW Maju did you know that acces to your own website from Turkey is banned ?
Hi, Mjora. I could only imagine that one in Istanbul was you but I feared you were pissed off because of my stand re. Kurdistan. I'm glad that's not the case.

Do you mean my personal Geocities site that has basically maps of European Neolithic/Chalcolithic and no political opinions whatsoever? And do you mean that instead everyone cam access this subversive anti-Islamist pro-Kurdish blog? That only shows one thing: political police is a waste of money.
Glad that you can visit anyhow. You are always welcome, you know.
Enjoy.

Hi Dear,
Well I don't remember what you said about Kurds. But let me tell you that I'm for self determination right for every minority in every country. And I'm a member of Turkish komunistforum along with lots of PKK sympathizers including its admin and mods. There's no way your comments on Kurds or Kurdistan can bother me.

I guess they can't ban the blogs. No it's not this blog ,It's your website. At first I was really surprised and wondered what you might have said in that site.I visited it and couldn't found out why it was banned. I use proxy sites to see the banned sites.

Ok. I remember vaguely we had some differences on something - but could not find it. It was not about Kurdistan it seems.
Btw, I remember now when I was on vacation in Turkey in the early 90s and we met that bearded guy that was quite drunk in Kas (or some other coastal town of Lycia). He did not speak almost any English and our Turkish was limited to a few handbook sentences but we were drinking together for a good while because the guy was communist (some Istanbul teacher) and we were all night shouting nonsense commie slogans over a bunch of beers. It was a funny night.

Actually July has been pretty low in interesting stuff to write about. Also one has a life or half a life or whatever. The sun shines and all that. I can only guess that August will be much of the same. I try anyhow to post every other day but I cannot make of that an obligation: that would kill the blog because of low quality.
You know that when I find stuff and have time I can post several times per day. But when there's nothing or I'm short of time...
Anyhow, you can make suggestions. What are you interested in? I can make some research and write about that, I guess.
Enjoy,
Luis.
Inland China... Surely it is I, ren...
I thought you lived between California and Shanghai. I've always thought of you as US citizen of Chinese ancestry.
Yes, but I've been in China for the past 8 months...
I am not telepathic...
At least not most of the time.
