That's the whole issue. A policeman fired the canister right to his face.

It is strange that local police go about in masks.

Spanish police is not local but a state-wide body (actually two, one of them fully militar, similar to French Gendarmerie or Italian Carbinieri). Anyhow, also Basque autonomous police, and plain clothes agents often go masked (and don't insist in getting their ID number, much less their names - on risk of being arrested on any made-up pretext). Their reasoning is to prevent identification by "terrorists" but obviously it leaves citizens in clear indefension.Majuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12369840391933337204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3563811638411839784.post-6362842071630324782009-01-10T11:23:00.000+01:002009-01-10T11:23:00.000+01:00Tear gas ect. canisters are fired into the air wit...Tear gas ect. canisters are fired into the air with a high trajectory to fall to ground some distance away.

This man seems to have been hit at close range which makes me wonder if it was a deliberate attempt to injure him.

It is strange that local police go about in masks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
